On June 25th, the “Round Table on sustainable finance” – promoted by the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance and composed of the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security, the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, the Bank of Italy, the National Commission for Companies and the Stock Exchange (CONSOB), the Institute for Insurance Supervision (IVASS), and the Pension Funds Supervisory Commission (COVIP) –launched a public consultation on the “Sustainability dialogue between Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Banks” (hereinafter, the “Document”).

In a scenario where sustainability objectives are central at the European level, the Document aims to support SMEs in producing information regarding the environmental, social, and governance impacts of their activities, communicating them to the market. In return, SMEs may obtain significant benefits in terms of risk measurement and investment planning, as well as improved access to financing with lower costs and more favourable conditions.
The Document contains 45 sustainability information voices to be completed, which have been divided into 5 thematic sections and are based on the principle of proportionality with regard to the size of the enterprise.
