On November 8, Banca d’Italia, in collaboration with CONSOB and in partnership with the Financial Agents and Credit Mediators Authority (OAM), announced its intention to conduct an exploratory survey to understand the level of interest in Italy in conducting activities falling within the scope of the EU Regulation No. 2023/1114 – MiCAR (Market in Crypto-Assets Regulation)- published last June and applicable as from December 30, 2024.
The survey will address various entities, including: (i) banks, payment institutions, and electronic money institutions, financial intermediaries ex. art. 106 TUB; (ii) all entities registered in the register of Service Providers for the use of virtual currency and digital wallet services maintained by OAM; (iii) other entities intending to provide services or activities regulated by MiCAR.
The study will be conducted through the distribution of a questionnaire, published along with instructions for its completion on the Banca d’Italia’s website. The replies have to be filed through the INFOSTAT platform within November 24, 2023. The central securities depositories and regulated market operators, shall file their replies according to the methods specified by Banca d’Italia and CONSOB.
